Music and Dance Lessons
Emilyn is available for private and groups lessons in Toronto, Ontario. She also is available to teach social folk dancing at parties and events.
She specializes in:
-Traditional European and North American Folk Tunes on the fiddle
-Accompanying folk music on piano and accordion
-Learning to play by ear, understanding harmony, and improvising from a folk music perspective on fiddle, piano and accordion
-Dancing traditional social dances and playing music for traditional social dances
Emilyn also has experience teaching week long music and dance camps. She has taught classes in:
-Fiddle Tunes from Canada, Europe, and Oliver Schroer
-Piano accompaniment and harmony for folk tunes
-Folk Tune composition
-Improvising from a folk perspective
-Ensemble and arranging classes
-Traditional Social European Folk Dances
-Playing tunes for Traditional Social European Folk Dances
Emilyn has taught at Goderich Celtic College, Algoma Trad Music and Dance Camp, Smithers Fiddle Fest, Anne Lederman's Fiddle Camp, Castlegar Fiddle Camp, and more.
Balfolk Workshops
Emilyn teaches Balfolk workshops throughout Canada. Balfolk is traditional social folk dance from Western Europe, and can be adjusted to suit groups of any age.
A fun cultural activity for parties, festivals, weddings, and school groups, possible as a one time or regularly occurring event.
